Questions
What happens in a deed transfer?
The title is checked and a deed is drafted. The parties sign it before a Notary Public, and the deed is registered at the Land Registry for the area.
Can I transfer property while living abroad?
Yes, usually through a Power of Attorney given to someone in Sri Lanka. How it must be signed and certified depends on the country you are in.
What is a gift deed?
A deed that transfers property without payment, often between family members. How a gift can later be revoked depends on how the deed is written.
