How it works
- Send us the document, or tell us what you need it for.
- We confirm the form the document must take and what you need to bring.
- You sign in person before the Notary, with your identity document.
- The Notary attests the document, you receive the executed copy, and duplicates are filed where the law requires.
Good to know
- A Notary attests only a signature made in their presence, by a person whose identity they have checked. Please don't bring documents already signed.
What to bring
- Your NIC or passport
- The document, or the details we need to prepare it
- Witnesses, if the document needs them. We tell you in advance.
Questions
What is the difference between an affidavit and a declaration?
Both are written statements of fact. An affidavit is sworn or affirmed before an authorised person. Which one you need depends on who asked for it. Send us their request and we'll prepare the right one.
Can you notarise a document for use overseas?
Yes. Documents for use abroad often need further authentication after notarisation. We explain the steps for the country concerned.
Do you prepare the document, or only notarise it?
Both. We can draft the document and have it executed before the Notary.
What does a Notary Public do?
A Notary Public prepares and attests deeds and other documents that the law requires to be signed before a notary, such as deeds that transfer land. The Notary attests signatures made in their presence and files the duplicates the law requires.
How do I check that a notary is registered?
The Registrar General's Department publishes a notary directory on the Sinhala version of its website, listing each notary by name with their judicial division. A notary's name can be checked there before signing.
